boys soccer MVL champs 2018

The varsity boys soccer team celebrated their second Mission Valley League Championship in three years. Our boys varsity team finished with a 8-2-2 MVL record. They are 1st place in the MVL and first seed into CIF-SS division playoffs next week.

Captains; Jahir Diaz, Ernie Angulo, Carlos Navarro and Mauricio Rodriguez led their team to a 14-5-3 overall record this season. Jahir Diaz led the team with 9 season goals (6 in league play). Close behind him, Jerry Salazar with 6 goals/ 1 assist, Ernie Angulo 6 goals and newcomer Andy Garica up from the JV with 3 goals and 2 assists.

Our defense also helped carry this team to a championship. Mauricio Rodriguez and Andrew Espinoza lead our defense to allow the fewest goals in the MVL ( 8 goals in 12 games). Goal Keeper, Andrew Espinoza ended the season with 5 shut outs. Also, a special thanks to our great coaching staff. Coach Rodriguez and Coach Orozco put together a great squad on the field.

The boys will advance to the CIF-SS playoffs. They are hoping for a home game but are excited for whatever they draw. Stay tuned for playoff pairings to be released.
